The Problem to Solve

The COVID-19 outbreak has impacted all visa holders entering and leaving Australia, including those with strict visa conditions. To communicate the new policy decisions and the impacts on visa holders, the Department of Home Affairs needed to provide updates to Australia's immigration and border arrangements during the COVID-19 outbreak, which couldn’t be serviced through their existing channels, or be rolled out quickly enough.


How we solved it

With the need for rapid development and deployment, as well as the ability to have a coordinated content publishing workflow with governance, the Annex team worked with GovCMS to setup a new website on the GovCMS SaaS platform in under 24 hours. By go-live the Home Affairs content team were able to populate and publish their COVID-19 content effectively. We created a comprehensive information architecture to guide users through the site and to the most pertinent information for them.

The outcome

We were able to go-live on this site within 36 hours, allowing Home Affairs to get clear information to visa holders as it became available.

The site is now experiencing approximately 140,000 page hits per day, and over 1 million sessions per month.

The information can be translated into any language using a custom Google Translate integration with GovCMS.
